**Due to the nature of our kitchen volunteer opportunities, we need to coordinate with first-time volunteers who have not yet had an orientation in our kitchen space. DescriptionHelp Community Food Bank provide a refreshing source of hydration to our neighbors during Southern Arizona's hottest months. Volunteers in this role assist with the production of electrolyte pops that are distributed through community meal programs and outreach efforts.
Tasks
- Portion liquid into pop cups using filling equipment and hand-filling methods.
- Seal electrolyte pops and ensure packages are properly closed.
- Count, package, and organize finished pops for freezing and distribution.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area following food safety guidelines.
- Label, date, and rotate products as needed.
- Assist with moving supplies and ingredients used in production.
- Support kitchen production activities after electrolyte pop production is complete, which may include meal prep, portioning, packaging, or other food service tasks.
Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable performing repetitive tasks with attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Impact
Electrolyte pops help community members stay hydrated during extreme heat and are distributed through meal programs, outreach efforts, and partner organizations throughout Pima County. Your volunteer service helps us provide this important resource to those who need it most.
