The Community Food Bank needs volunteers to help distribute shelf-stable and fresh groceries to families and seniors in our community!
Volunteers will assist with loading product into client cars, traffic control, check-in, and walk-up distributions. Tasks will be assigned the day of by the supervisor.
Dress code: Read dress code requirements below for volunteering! Please be aware that failure to follow the dress code may result in dismissal from volunteer activity.
- Comfortable, closed-toe and closed-heel shoes
- Sun, weather, and food-safe clothing
- Shirts must cover armpits, abdomen, and chest (no tank tops)
- Shorts should not be too tight or short
- No sandals
- Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are advised
- If you would like to wear gloves during distribution, please bring your own gloves
Safety Requirements: All volunteers must be aware of and uphold the safety expectations below in order to volunteer. Note: no lockers for storing personal items are available -- please leave them in your vehicle or at home.
- Face masks are optional
- Regularly wash/sanitize your hands before, during, and after your shift
- Drink plenty of water to stay cool and hydrated
- Volunteers agree that they feel safe and are able to perform essential tasks, including...
- Standing for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs from the ground or over the head
- Ability to bend, kneel, push, pull, and walk
- No use of cell phones, iPods, headphones, etc. during shift
- For food safety, do not chew gum or smoke while volunteering
- No food or glass is permitted in the distribution area
NOTE that, on occasion, distribution times may extend past the allotted time or end early. If it extends, due to a large volume of clients, we ask that you stay to assist completion of all clients in distribution. Thank you for your flexibility!
