Volunteer Shifts general dates & times: Tuesday / Wednesday/ Friday 7:30 AM - 11:00 AM / 10:45 AM - 2:15 PM Thursday 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM / 2:45 PM- 6:00PM 4th Saturday of the month: 8:30am -12:30pm Lobby doors open at 7:30am. Note that distribution for clients is now 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Volunteer shift arrival is set a bit earlier to ensure folks arrive and get set-up to begin by 8:00, and the shift is extended till 1:30 in case of a large influx of clients around 1:00 PM. One should feel comfortable working inside and standing for a majority of the shift in variable temperatures, and be able to perform physical work (more below). Volunteer: Meal Service Volunteer 2025 (Long-term & Weekly)**Due to the nature of our Meal Service volunteer opportunity, we need to coordinate with first-time volunteers who have not yet had an orientation to our meal service. Because volunteers will be acting as representatives of the Community Food Bank to the public, there is a self guided pre-orientation that covers program expectations, customer service practices, and more information to be reviewed before discussing a first shift. Caridad Community Kitchen is looking for long-term volunteers to join our team in distributing prepared Grab & Go Meals and personal care supplies to the community. Volunteers partner with Caridad staff to distribute meals. Meal distribution takes place in a covered area outside and community members walk up to receive meals. Volunteers will always have a staff member available to support them during their shift and will often be working directly alongside staff. This volunteer opportunity works directly with the public. Meal service takes place outdoors & masks are optional. Tasks Gather and set up grab & go meals and distribution supplies. Distribute meals and personal supplies to guests under program guidelines and restrictions while also providing excellent customer service Examples of personal supplies include face masks, hygiene items such as soap, safer sex materials, socks and underwear, Naloxone kits - the opioid overdose reversal medicine, and much more. Distribute print materials with additional resources for clients as requested. Because volunteers will be acting as representatives of the Community Food Bank to the public, there is a self guided pre-orientation that covers program expectations, customer service practices, and more information to be reviewed before discussing a first shift. Caridad Community Kitchen is looking for long-term volunteers to join our team in distributing prepared Grab & Go Meals and personal care supplies to the community. Volunteers partner with Caridad staff to distribute meals. Meal distribution takes place in a covered area outside and community members walk up to receive meals. Volunteers will always have a staff member available to support them during their shift and will often be working directly alongside staff. This volunteer opportunity works directly with the public. Meal service takes place outdoors & masks are optional. Tasks Gather and set up grab & go meals and distribution supplies. Distribute meals and personal supplies to guests under program guidelines and restrictions while also providing excellent customer service Examples of personal supplies include face masks, hygiene items such as soap, safer sex materials, socks and underwear, Naloxone kits - the opioid overdose reversal medicine, and much more. Distribute print materials with additional resources for clients as requested. Treat all clients with dignity and respect, while adhering to Caridad Community Kitchen’s safety & food distribution guidelines. Organize products for distribution, as time allows. Volunteer: Emergency Food Box ProductionYour help is needed to pack emergency food boxes and bags for families and seniors across southern Arizona! Production volunteers participate in an assembly-line style activity and work together to pack non-perishable food items and more for those in need. Please note that the warehouse assembly-line does get hot and is in a limited space. Check in: Meet in the lobby, and a member of the Volunteer Services Team will be there to check you in and direct you to production. Production volunteers participate in an assembly-line style activity and work together to pack non-perishable food items and more for those in need. Please note that the warehouse assembly-line does get hot and is in a limited space. Check in: Meet in the lobby, and a member of the Volunteer Services Team will be there to check you in and direct you to production. Dress code: We ask that you don't wear tank tops, short shorts or sandals/flip flops when volunteering--all shirts must have sleeves and must cover armpits, abdomen, and chest. All shoes must be closed-toe-and-heel shoes. Please be aware that failure to follow the dress code may result in dismissal from volunteer activity for the day.
