All volunteers are welcome to join us for a Volunteer Coffee Hour! These sessions are held to give volunteers the opportunity to learn more about what's going on at the Food Bank, upcoming changes and opportunities to connect, and more. Coffee Hours are held in the warehouse break room at our Tucson Country Club location.
This session, you'll meet Natalia Molina! Natalia is CFB's Manager of Civic Engagement and Policy. In honor of Hunger Action Month, Natalia will be sharing very important information about proposed revisions to categorical eligibility in SNAP. Those revisions could have the following effects:
- This has the potential to eliminate SNAP benefits for 3.1 million individuals, take away free school meals from children, and punish those with meager savings.
- Senior citizens and the disabled are also at risk for losing SNAP benefits.
- Food banks and our partners will be overwhelmed with increased demand.
Your voice makes a huge difference! Comments to the Federal Register are due on or before September 23, 2019. Submit your comment here, or join us for this Coffee Hour for the opportunity to fill out a post card.
A light breakfast and refreshments will be served.
